Crystal Clear.

As part of the wunderkammer collection i have been making this latest piece of work incorporates a piece of welsh quartz which came from Cwmorthin Quarry, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd.Ive been a collector of minerals and gemstones for over 25 years and as you can imagine have amassed a large and varied array of specimens from all around the world so incorporating these into some miniature pieces i find particularly interesting.

This particular specimen measures around 4.5cm which equates to just under 24inches in 1/12th scale. Most wunderkammer and cabinets of curiosity contained minerals and gemstones in one form or another some specimens measuring up to 48inches or more.

Usually the back of these cabinets would have details of the specimen inside and the place the cabinet was made as you can see from the image above i have also included my own version of these too.
The cabinet itself is constructed from walnut and three real glass panels of 1mm glass show the quartz off to its best.

The dimensions of this piece are 4'' in height by 1¼ at the base this piece will be available on my for sale page. I would also like to welcome my new followers , many thanks for following my journal/blog and taking an interest in what i create.
Have a great weekend everyone.     Tony.
