This tiny little casket is made from ivory and horn and contains a genuine 17th Century button which was found by myself. The button has been cast in bronze and still has the pattern visible on the front, this may have been gilded in gold too.The tiny casket is 1'' wide by 1.5'' in height and just under 1'' in depth.
All you have to do to stand a chance of becoming the owner of this piece of work is
1. Be a follower of my blog.
2. Tell me why you would like to own it.
The piece is signed and dated by myself i will also supply the GPS co-ordinates of where i found the button so you can view it on google earth. The winning entry will be drawn and announced on Saturday 28th September.
Have a great week everyone :) Tony.
How can you ask why anyone would like to own it? It is a beautifully detailed piece of art and a gorgeous miniature. I would LOVE to have it in my collection. Besides... I love and collect old metal buttons. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win one of your beautiful pieces Tony. XXX

Besos de las Malu´s.
What miniature collector wouldn't love to have this piece, or any of your pieces for that matter? This would certainly hold a place of honor in my Curley Cottage build and would be displayed in a prominent location. Good luck to all and thank you for giving us the change to be part of such an outstanding giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhy? Because it's beautiful, because I admire all your works, and it would be just Great to have one piece home. Because your work always inspire me and makes me want to be better in what I do.:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully generous giveaway! I would love to own it because it ties my two passions together - miniatures and sewing clothing. I've even made some historic clothing reproductions in my time. :] Beautiful work as always!
ReplyDeleteMy sincere compliments for this tiny little casket, Tony, and thank you for the chance to win one of your awesome artworks!
ReplyDeleteYou asked for the reason? Well, that's quite a story. I'll try to explain to you why, so do you have a minute ;)?
During my holiday the past two weeks I've dug out a lost corner of my workroom my selfbuild Amsterdams canal house :D! I've built this house 12 years ago (see my latest blogpost) and I ever will build a room in that canal house for the lord of the house. This man travelled a lot in the past time and he will get an cabinet, which is called in Dutch a "rariteitenkabinet" (a so called curiosities cabinet in English, I think?). And I would be very honored to place this beautiful tiny little casket and its accessories into this cabinet. And if it doesn't fit in this cabinet I'll put it at least on a place of honor in this special room.
Sorry, I took so much of your time for my explanation, but you asked for this ;)!!
I'll put the link of your generous give away on my blog.
Have a great week! Hugs, Ilona
I will never be able to afford such a piece, my dream is that one day I would be just so fortunate to have something like this for my own....I can dream xx
ReplyDeleteAn awsome giveaway. The reason why I love it - I have a passion for caskets and boxes in all sizes and scales and this one in miniature is
ReplyDeletea real treasure to cherish. Please, count me in. Your link will be on my blog.
Hugs, Drora
Tony, firstly it would be wonderful to own a piece of your exquisite work. The casket is amazing. It would take pride of place in my collection and, I am sure, in anyone's collection.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I love old 'finds' and it is so amazing a tiny button has survived all this time and still shows some of the pattern. It must have been an exciting find for you at the time.
Finally, while I cannot contend with the age of the button the giveaway is drawn on a milestone birthday for me. I won't say which milestone, except to say it has a big 5 in it!
I wish everyone the best of luck in this draw. I am sure we would all love to win. Thank you Tony for the opportunity.
me encantaría participar! subo el enlace a mi blog
ReplyDeleteI would love a chance to own such a gorgeous miniature. Why would I like...it is so unique!!! Gorgeous & Unique!!
ReplyDeleteI would love the chance to win your lovely treasure! Why? Because I don't have any antique miniatures...yet!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a real treasure! That's why I'd love to own it! First it's a great honour to have one of your masterpieces, second it's too beautiful and third it's a piece of high inspiration for me as an artist and miniaturist! The button is another story that makes me feel like indiana jones:) there is some mistery in this little old button that attracts. thank you for this opportunity, Tony!
ReplyDeleteAnna
OM, thank you Tony for this wonderful chance.
ReplyDeleteThis piece is another master work and it's absolutely beautiful.
It would be the perfect companion to the ivory sewing box which you made last year and which proudly stands in front of me any time I work on the pc.
Yes, I love my box so much that I never placed it in a different place but in front of my eyes.
Thank you again and again, Rosanna
I'm a bit of a bower bird, and since I was little I have collected little things that I thought would have some great and interesting story behind them. I'm sure that the story I created for each item is completely different to the actual reality of the item, but its a wonderful thing to dream. So around my house there is jars of marbles, boxes of buttons and tins filled with broken items. I plan in my miniature house to be the same. Every item I choose has a story or a memory associated with it. This button would be a perfect addition to my house. Please count me in. IndyPoppy
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a very generous giveaway! I would love to win. I do love buttons, I only have "new once" compared to this one =) And I think the box is stunning! I could never make anything like this myself, and wont afford it either, so that's why I hope to win it! I'm very impressed by all your work and would be very proud to own this =)
ReplyDeleteHannah
I would love to win this because one of the inhabitants of my dollhouse is called The Muddler, who collects buttons and is an admirer of tiny treasures. This would the most valuable button of his collection. You are an amazing artist, it's beyond words.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Finland,
Saara
Me encantaría tener suerte porque es una obra de arte. gracias, besos Ana (mucuy)

I would love to own such an exquisite work of art and will never be able to afford to buy anything so remarkable on my tiny pension. I would place it in Dumbledore's office as it seems the most approprite place for such a magical treasure!
ReplyDeleteHi Tony, I have been a follower and a big fan of your work for several years. I admire your use of authentic, antique materials. I would love to have the box to go with either Lettice's room box or my English Crooked Cottage.
ReplyDeleteHi Tony - Would love to add another of your pieces to my little collection - and thanks so much for the chance of winning this gorgeous piece. I say good luck to all those who enter!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Lidi
What an exquisite treasure please add my name to the list.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tony - that's an extremely generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog for a long time now (as you can see by the comments I've left) and I'd be thrilled to win one of your beautiful miniatures, because I love everything you make and I'm always smitten with your ideas and skills. So I wish me luck, but there'll be so many more admirers of your work, that my chances are only miniscule. But whoever will be the winner - I'm sure you make her/him happy as a lark.
Warm regards
Andrea
What a beautiful piece of work!! I would love the chance to own this. It's the perfect piece of inspiration for my next build.
ReplyDeleteI have been following your exquisitely beautiful work for quite a while... of course I would love to own a piece! Who would not? :-)
ReplyDeleteHi tony,
ReplyDeleteI would be honoured to win this piece. I am a huge fan of your work, your pieces are incredible and I know I could never make anything so precise as this. I would put it in pride of place in my wizards room.
Natalie
I would love to be entered!
ReplyDeleteThe little witches who live in my Majokko Shop are fascinated with relics of the past. Next to their magnificent wand cabinet, the tiny casket with an ancient relic inside would be their most prized possession. Every night they could gather round, and try to conjure clues about its past. Perhaps they could summon the ghost of whoever wore that button in life, and ask him questions about the past.
Ah yes, the girls would have quite a lot of fun with such a wonderful treasure.
littlebearries@yahoo.com
Hello Tony!
ReplyDeleteIt is easy to say why I would want it: it is so wonderfully made!!! I would put it in my witches study (and hey: my witch would be happy too!), and would be proud to have something from you in my collection!
Thanks for the great opportunity! (I am following under my hubby´s name)
Hugs, Sandra
I would love to win the tiny casket! It will be a treasure in my dollhouse ;)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
teruka
What a great giveaway. I cannot think of anyone who wouldn't want to own this. For me it is indeed a 'miniature treasure'.
ReplyDeleteHi Tony! I love this piece, it would fit right into my "dark art room" where I make and display my miniature shadow box coffins!

That's easy, because it is so beautiful! A very intriguing piece and the genuine button gives me chills to think about, I love stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteHi, Tony! How to have a little 'all said, you already own a wonderful little creature would be a great honor. I also find it in my Bethany Cottage the place it deserves such a relic. And I think that in the small paradise of Blanche and Christabel would be fine. As it is said in the novel Possession by AS Byatt, from which I am drawing inspiration for my dollhouse Pre-Raphaelite, Christabel has the hobby of sewing as well as poetry, and caskets and found objects is full of every page of the novel. It would be a fluke win such an extreme delight. Thank whatever happens!
ReplyDeleteHow can we think of to pass up such a wonderful opportunity?? Her little gems are a feast for the eyes! How can we not want to own at least one??
ReplyDeleteHello Tony,
ReplyDeleteAnother incredible piece. Your workmanship is just incredible! The finished detail is just wonderful. My reason for wanting it: I could not think of a more perfect work of art to be on display in the art gallery of Dewell Manor. It is the type of piece one would see on display in a great British Country House.
Big hug,
Giac

Your work is as always so wonderfully detailed and well made! I would love to own someting so finely made as this but I can't aford to.
ReplyDeleteMy reasons as to why I would like to own it, sadly, aren't as deep as some of the other participants, but I really admire your work and really like this piece.
Susu
I started following your blog after seeing your work on the Greenleaf forum. Your pieces are truly remarkable and inspiring and I love the clockmaker's shop.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to actually win this piece I'd be flabbergasted! And honored. I could see myself deciding to build a vignette specifically around it to showcase it.
This work is fantastic! I would like to win to put a precious and mysterious piece in my Victorian house!
ReplyDeleteI hope to win it ..... ;)
Thank you for this draw. I put the link on my blog.
greetings
I would love to be included in your draw.
ReplyDeleteYour work is extraordinary fine, and always with a story behind the materials that make it even more special. I love the story behind the miniature, and try to incorporate that in my dollhouse in many of the details (reindeermoss from my Norwegian holiday for miniature plants, a napkin from a special dinner for a miniature teatowel etc)
This little gem of a casket would fit right in!
Hi Tony, as a new follower, all I can say is that 'a thing of beauty is a joy forever'! and I'd be Forever Joyful with this outstandingly beautiful piece, to grace my collection.
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
Absolutely beautiful piece! (as ever, I am constantly in awe of your workmanship)
ReplyDeleteIf I won this I wouldn't keep it for myself, I'd give it to my mum whose love of miniatures passed onto me and got me into modelmaking. She's not really had much time for her doll's house recently with real life problems and such a beautiful piece would be ideal to get her back into it. :)
Tony, what an exquisite give away. I am so thankful I didn't miss this. I would love to have this for the elderly seamstress that is moving into my cottage when it is completed. I am sure she will treasure it!
ReplyDeleteI should add that it is a dollhouse cottage I mentioned..

Hi Tony,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity of this giveaway - the hardest part is explaining why I would like to win in a short comment, though I will try! Apart from the meticulous detail and workmanship that has gone into it, and wanting to own and appreciate one of your works, the fact that it contains an antique button is such an amazing thing... the idea that someone's hands hundreds of years ago used it and the journey it has taken to end up nestled in our work is something that I appreciate greatly.
Good luck to everyone who enters!
Jonquil
