Quartz Buddha.

Hi folks, its been a while since my previous post and i have missed catching up and following every ones work and projects but I'm sure this will make for interesting reading over the weekend.
My second piece of work for 2013 is this tiny hand carved Buddha encased in a walnut and ivory made cabinet.

The Buddha measure approx 1'' while the cabinet is around 3.5'' and has a fretwork panel mounted on each side to let light inside the cabinet.

This piece reminded me of one of those treasures brought back by a wealthy gentleman while on his global travels to show off and display inside of his home.

The cabinet also has a removable top section so if preferred the Buddha can be displayed as it is in the photo above.

Quartz for the Buddha originated in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil while the case is recycled walnut as is the Ivory sections the Buddha is fully removable from its base too.
This was a great piece to create, not only for its visual appeal but for temporarily losing oneself and forgetting the daily problems and issues that surround everyday life.
I would also like to thank everyone for there recent comments on my previous post on the vanity case, this is currently on its way to a new home, and at the same time welcome my new followers its always a pleasure to share my blog/journal and I'm immensely happy that you find it interesting enough to follow.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.    Tony.

Ladies Vanity Box Complete.

The Ladies vanity box is finally complete and becomes my first piece of work for 2013.

I popped a coin on top to give everyone a comparison to scale.

The three tiny scent bottles and brass combs may fit inside the box but i have not tried them, either way they will also accompany the piece.

I'm not sure what may have been kept inside a ladies vanity box from around this period but i thought it would be nice to include a small portrait also mounted with a ivory frame.

And finally a shot of the box with all of its accessories.

I'm hoping to continue sharing other pieces i have on the go but these may be a little irregular due to real life issues ,many thanks to everyone who has left me comments regarding this piece of work and also from my previous post i do read each one and treasure all of them also a warm welcome to my new followers and many thanks for taking an interest in what i create.
Have a happy and safe week everyone.   Tony.
