Giveaway Time.

I've decided to put this giveaway up for grabs now as I'm going to be extremely busy over the next couple of weeks .
This tiny little casket is made from ivory and horn and contains a genuine 17th Century button which was found by myself. The button has been cast in bronze and still has the pattern visible on the front, this may have been gilded in gold too.The tiny casket is 1'' wide by 1.5'' in height and just under 1'' in depth.
All you have to do to stand a chance of becoming the owner of this piece of work is

1. Be a follower of my blog.
2. Tell me why you would like to own it.

The piece is signed and dated by myself i will also supply the GPS co-ordinates of where i found the button so you can view it on google earth. The winning entry will be drawn and announced on Saturday 28th September.
Have a great week everyone :)     Tony.

Next Project.

As i said in my previous post i will be constructing another room box only this one will be quite different to my previous. Whereas in my previous piece i mainly constructed the corner of the room first and then added the accessories in this piece i will construct most of the accessories first and then build the room box to fit the pieces.
I've started off with these two skulls one which has been carved from natural quartz and the other which is carved from horn.

The quartz skull is around 1'' in height while the one in horn is a little over 1'' but has an elongated cranium why i hear you ask! well its all to do with the theme this room is going to be based upon but i don't think these will be the only two skulls that will be part of this room, hopefully as these and other pieces evolve i will post them on my blog. As some of you may know i've always had a long standing fascination with not only human skulls but really any type of animal skull since i was quite young, studying anatomy in art when i was older really just added to this obsession and started off a craze for collecting. I'm sure it won't be too difficult for some of you to guess what type of roombox this will eventually become!
On another note i'd like to welcome my new followers and thank you for following my obsession with miniatures.
I'm also working on another giveaway gift which hopefully should be complete in two or three weeks so keep your eyes peeled for that to.
Have a great week everyone.     Tony.

Almost Complete.

Hi everyone, well the watch/clock makers workshop is more or less there, I've added a few more finishing touches including a turned horn candlestick complete with ivory candle.

Also a little more detailing around the lathe.

All that's left for me to do is sign and date the piece. I have to say i have thoroughly enjoyed putting something together of this size and have also learnt a few things along the way which hopefully i can put into practice on the next room box i create.

The exterior of the room box has a label on each side as shown in the image above these full size labels were often attached to the back of large clocks or in the case of a pocket watch once completed so i thought these would complete the piece nicely.
The Clock makers Workshop will be put on my for sale page and will be available for purchase.

Over the next few weeks i hope to share some of the items that will be on display in the new room box I'm starting work on, something again quite different and very unusual! this will be the second and last room box that i will build this year as i would like to create and complete some other pieces which I've had on hold for some time now. A warm welcome also to my new followers and many thanks for taking the time to read my journal.
Have a great week everyone.    Tony.
